China’s crude steel production for June 2009 was 49.4 mmt, 6% higher than June 2008.
Russia’s crude steel production for June 2009 was 4.9 mmt, a decrease of -22.1% from June 2008.
Ukraine produced 2.3 mmt of crude steel in June 2009, -36.8% lower than June 2008.
Turkey produced 2.2 mmt of crude steel in June 2009, -12.7% down from June 2008.
Iran produced 0.9 mmt of crude steel in June 2009, 9.4% more than in June 2008.
Iran showed an increase of 12.1%, producing 5.6 mmt of crude steel during the first six months of 2009.
Asia produced 360 mmt of crude steel, a decline of -7.8% over the first half of 2008.

China's crude steel production for April 2009 was 43.4 mmt, -3.9% lower than April 2008.
China produced 171 mmt of crude steel for the first four months of 2009, a slight increase of 0.1%
Japan produced 5.7 mmt of crude steel in April 2009, down by -43.6% compared to the same month last year.
South Korea showed a decrease of -10.5% from April 2008, producing 4.1 mmt of crude steel in April 2009.
In the EU, Germany's crude steel was 1.9 mmt in April 2009, a decrease of -53.1% from April 2008.
Spain produced 1.2 mmt of crude steel in April 2009, - 38.2% less than the same month last year.
France showed a decrease of -50.5% from April 2008, producing 0.8 mmt in April 2009.
Turkey produced 2.0 mmt of crude steel in April 2009, -13.4% down from April 2008.

China’s crude steel production production for March 2009 was 45.1 mmt, -0.3% lower than March 2008.
Japan produced 5.7 mmt of crude steel in March 2009, down by -46.7% compared to the same month last year.
South Korea showed a decrease of -21.2% from March 2008, producing 3.7 mmt of crude steel in March 2009.

February

World crude steel production was 84 million metric tons (mmt), 22% lower than the same month of 2008.
Crude steel production showed a continued decrease in nearly all the major countries in February 2009
compared to the same month in 2008, except for Iran and China.
Iran recorded an increase of 15.9% in February 2009, producing 0.9 mmt of crude steel, and the Middle East
is the only region showing production growth this month.
China crude steel production was 40.4 mmt, an increase of 4.9% y-o-y.
Japan produced 5.5 mmt in February 2009, down -44.2% y-o-y.
In the EU, Germany produced 2.6 mmt of crude steel in February 2009, a decrease of -31.6% y-o-y.
Italy’s crude steel production was 1.7 mmt, down -39.9% y-o-y.
France showed a decrease of -35.7% y-o-y, producing 1.0 mmt in February 2009.
Spain’s crude steel production for February 2009 was 0.9 mmt, - 35.7% y-o-y.
Russia showed a -32.1% decrease from February 2008, producing 4.1 mmt of crude steel in February 2009.
