Armetal started Stainless Steel Pipe mill in Riyadh

Armetal, pioneer and leader in stainless steel architectural work in Saudi Arabia since 1986, started 3 months back, manufacturing of Stainless Steel Tubes, as well as Mirror Polished Stainless sheets.
Their brand-new production lines, imported from Italy, are both located in the second industrial area of Riyadh.
The tube line has a capacity of up to 6.000 tons per year of architectural round, square & rectangular stainless steel welded pipes.
The present production ranges for
- Round ss pipes from 19mm up to 76.2mm,
- Square ss tubes from 20x20mm to 60x60 and
- Rectangular ss tubes from 40x20mm to 80x40mm,
with wall thickness from 1.2 to 3mm, and lengths from 3 to 6m.
Finishes offered include #1, 2B, satin (Grit180), polish 400 – 600 - 700, Super Mirror and Hairline. Standard qualities are SS 304, 316 and 316L.
Armetal also produces stainless steel U-channels and welded grooved stainless pipes.
After receipt of their pickling and annealing line next year, Armetal will also add Stainless Schedule pipe to their range.
The Sheet Polishing line has a capacity to produce 1.200t/year of Mirror Finish Stainless Steel sheets in thickness from 0.5 to 3mm, with widths of max 1500mm and lengths of max 4m.
Part of above production, will be used for their own architectural work, while the balance will be sold in Saudi and GCC markets.
In December, another line for finishing sheets to satin and hairline finish will become operative.

Unicoil awards new 250KT/year CR and GI line to Danieli

Saudi Arabia's Universal Metal Coating Company (Unicoil) has awarded Italy's Danieli Wean United a $160 million EPC contract to expand its plant in Jubail with a 250,000-metric tons/year cold-rolling and galvanizing complex.
The contract covers a push-pull pickling line, a single-stand cold reversing mill, a continuous hot dip galvanising line and a slitting, recoiling and inspection line.
Danieli will design and supply all the production lines and various subordinate operations, including an acid-regeneration plant, water-treatment plant, compressed-air production plan, steam-generating plant, hydrogen-generating plant, power distribution equipment, and connections to civil supplies for natural gas, nitrogen, drinking water, and waste water.
Danieli will also install a roll-grinding shop, laboratory, and office facilities.
The 25-metric ton HR coils to be processed will be 1.6-4 mm thick and 650-1,400 mm wide. Finished CR coils, also up to 25 metric tons, will be 0.25-1.5 mm thick and 600-1,350 mm wide, and zinc coating thicknesses in the range of 100 to 350 grams/meter2.
For the galvanizing line, Danieli Centro Combustion will supply the heat treatment furnace, and Danieli Kohler will proved the air knives and pot equipment. All the automation and electrical systems will be sourced from Danieli Automation.
The project is due to begin construction in April 2004, for a start in 2006.
Unicoil's existing 120KT/year coil coating line is capable of painting galvanised steel, zinc aluminium coated steel, aluminium, tinplate and cold rolled steel.
Unicoil is owned by Saudi investors AH Al-Zamil Group and Rashed al-Rashed & Sons,and Australia's BHP Billiton

- Aker Kvaerner SIDC BDO plant for 2200t structural steel
work in Jubail
- Samsung Petrokemya butene 1 plant for 1000t also in Jubail
- Technip and Air products for 2000t in Qatar
 

Al Usaimi Factory Dammam, to start steel rolling mill for Merchant bars and Sections.

Al Usaimi Factory for Industrial Steel is setting up a roling mill, with capacity of 70.000t/year.
the plant is supplied from Korea and will produce round bars, flats, small beams and channels.
They will source billets 100 up to 150mm
 

Al Usaimi Factory increased Shafting Bar production
2003 October 11

Al Usaimi Factory for Industrial Steel, based in the new ind area in Dammam, who started last year production of cold drawn steel shafting bars, has increased production from 3000t / year to now about 12000 tons / year.
Al Usaimi also increased it's welded steel tubes production from 15 KT to 25 KT per year, and it's steel flat bars production (slit from hr coils) from 3 to 5 KT.
Al usaim added recently 2 more steel distribution centers in Saudi and 1 each in Kuwait and Qatar.
 

United Gulf ramping up production

Jubail based United Gulf Steel has produced 220 K tons so far in 2003. UGS is ramping-up production, and plans to reach production of 360 Ktons of steel angles, beams, channels, and rounds in the coming year.
UGS is understood to be exporting I-beams, now also to Iran where demand and pricing shows attractive.
Production range of round bars will be increased soon, from 62 to 90mm, and will include also C45 quality.
 

Hadeed Board approves 500kt/y steel bar expansion

The board of Saudi Iron & Steel Company (Hadeed) approved a 500 KT/year expansion of steel bar capacity at its factory in Jubail. Bids are under evaluation at Hadeed for a number of contracts. Two international contractors are competing for a contract to upgrade the company’s galvanizing line, while an award is expected by the end of the year on the contract to expand Hadeed’s hot mill
