Turkey's steel producer Eregli reported turnover of $750 million 2001Eregli, Turkey's only flat steel producer Eregli reported turnover of $750 million in 2001, and targets turnover to rise to $850 million for 2002. A weaker Turkish lira in 2001 has increased export targets for many firms. Total sales in 2001 reached three million tons, including 1.1 million in exports, compared to 476,000 tons in 2000. 2002 target is sales of 3.15 million tons, 2.43 million domestically and 720,000 exports. More than 60 percent of the company's exports are to European countries. Total 2002 turnover target should reach $1.2 billion when activity at steelmaker Isdemir is included. Eregli is taking over Isdemir from the government and has agreed to invest $700 million over five years in the firm.
