WELDING ENERGY INPUT

Heat Input is a relative measure of the energy transferred per unit length of weld.  It is and important characteristic because it influences the cooling rate which is the primary factor that determines the final metallurgical structure of the weld and Heat Affected Zone (HAZ) and by association, the mechanical properties.
