1.2 million tonnes sponge iron ore factory considered in Bahrain?

A sponge iron ore factory with an annual capacity of 1.2 million tons may be set up in Bahrain.
The draft plan presented by a group of investors would consider to set up a plant which will convert iron ore into steel and cost US$100 million.
 

USACE bid for expansion Navy base , including steel superstructure.
2003 May 20

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will issue a tender soon for the expansion of the main US Navy base in Bahrain
The facility will be constructed on pile foundations with a combination of concrete and steel superstructure.
In accordance with US procurement rules, bids from non-US firms will be evaluated by adding 20 per cent to the price proposal. Joint ventures incorporating a US firm will be evaluated as an American bid.
 

Alba bid for 6000t steel building due 18 May
2003 April 17

Alba (Aluminium Bahrain)has invited bids by 18 May for the supply of about 6,000 tonnes of structural steel for the building of an associated anode block house.
Bechtel of the US is EPCM contractor on the scheme.
 

Bids in for 13000 tons structural steel project ,at Alba
2003 April 7

3 contractors have submitted proposals yesterday for the main structural steel supply and erection contract of the 5th potline expansion project at Alba. They are
-Ahmed Mansour al-A’Ali-Bahrain
-Haji Hassan Group-Bahrain
-Zamil Steel Industries - Saudi Arabia.
The package covers the supply and erection of up to 13,000 tonnes of structural steel for the main building of the new potlines.
Bechtel of the US is the main EPCM contractor on the scheme.
 

Alba 10-12KT structural steel packages out to bid
2003 March 17

Contractors need to bid by 23 March, for the structural steel subcontract for the fifth potline expansion of Aluminium Bahrain. The package covers the supply and erection of between 10,000-12,000 tonnes of steel for potlines 9 and 10. Likely bidders are AA Nass Group, Ahmed Mansour al-A’Ali and Haji Hassan Group from Bahrain, Zamil Steel -Saudi Arabia, Murray & Roberts South Africa’s, and Cleveland Bridge -UAE.
