Iran at present produces 12 million tons of steel products
per year, making it one of the largest steel producing countries in the
Middle East.
Spurred by important iron ore reserves, cheap energy and a young - fast
growing population, large investments are either underway or are planned, to
increase Iran’s steel producing capacity to 29 million tons, within the
next 5 years.
More than 70 percent of Iranian steel is produced in Esfahan, where
